Metal fan cases are very rare and this piece is extra special for its design. The piece is silver plated copper and does not include any identifying marks. The cap comes off to reveal an intricate and beautiful wooden hand fan with a floral design. The cap is attached to the main piece with a 3.5 inch chain. The case has turquoise and carnelian like cabochon stones bezel set around it. It is possibly Japanese with the foreign symbols covering the piece. It appears to be in the Victorian style and dates circa mid to late 1800s.
