About the Vacheron Constantin Brand
The Vecheron brand was founded in 1755 by independent watchmaker Jean-Marc Vacheron in Geneva, Switzerland. Vacheron created the first complication in 1770 followed by the first engine-turned dials in 1779. In 1785, Abraham Vacheron and his son Jacques-Bathélemy took over the business which went on to survive the French Revolution and then slowly began exporting watches throughout Europe. With the growing demand of Vacheron watches and expansion of the brand, Vacheron partnered with François Constantin to form the Vacheron & Constantin brand we know today. Being one of the first watches to begin exporting to the United States, Vacheron & Constantin came up with their motto “do better if possible and that is always possible”. Vacheron & Constantin has continued to grow over the last several centuries developing many popular models such as the overseas series and the patrimony classic series.
