ORIGINAL KING GEORGE III APPOINTMENT LETTER C.1793, ENGLAND - $6K APPRAISAL VALUE
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Original signed letter of appointment by King George III of Great Britain, France, and Ireland. This letter appoints a member of the Royal Foot Guard to rise in rank to Lieutenant by order of the King. This document has been professionally matted and framed along with a picture depicting the King. King George III was the longest reigning king of England (from 1760 to his death in 1820). This document, in particular, is signed on his "thirty third" year as King, on April 25, 1793.

George the Third by the Grace of God. King of Great Britain, France and Ireland. Defender of the Faith && to our Trusty and beloved Dengil Onslow Esq. ___*
Greeting: We do by these Presents, Constitute and Appoint you to be Lieutenant to that Company whereof Captain in our First Regiment of Foot Guards commanded by our dearly beloved brother His Royal Highness* General William Duke of Gloucester and to take rank as captain in our army. You are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty of Lieutenant by exercising and well disciplining both the inferior Officers and Soldiers of that Company and we do herby command them to obey you as their lieutenant and you are to observe and follow such orders and directions from time to time as you shall receive from your Colonel or any other your superior officer according to the Rules and Discipline of War in pursuance of the Trust hereby reposed in you. Given at our Court at Saint James' the twenty fifth day of April 1793 in the thirty third year of Our Reign.
