ITEM DESCRIPTION:
   Here we have an extraordinarily unique and rare piece of historical ephemera, a cabinet card likely dating to the mid-19th century, measuring approximately 5.5” H x 2.5” W. The photograph on the card depicts a group that appears to represent a fraternity, club, or other organized society, showcasing period attire. What elevates this item to a remarkable level of historical significance is the addition on the reverse: a genuine colonial-era banknote from Maryland, issued in the 1700s. The note, valued at 2/3 of a Dollar, is signed by William Eddis and John Clapham, both notable figures in Maryland’s colonial history. William Eddis was an influential Loyalist during the Revolutionary War and a British customs official, while John Clapham was a key participant in Maryland’s financial system.
