It's difficult to believe a player earning thousands a year agreed, just about 35 years ago, to accept $5 on the spot, with a $250 annual payment for as long as he's an active member and player of Major League Baseball and an additional $75 for extending the contract an additional two years, for the licensing of their image. Bill Robinson, whose full name was William Henry Robinson, was born on June 26, 1943, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, USA. Bill was a professional baseball player who primarily played as an outfielder and first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut on September 10, 1966, with the Atlanta Braves. Robinson was known for his versatility as a player and his power-hitting abilities. He had a successful career and was part of the Pittsburgh Pirates' World Series championship team in 1979. After retiring as a player, Bill Robinson pursued a career in coaching. He served as a coach for several MLB teams, including the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants.
