On the reverse of 2020 Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coins, you will find the image of a red kangaroo leaping across the Outback. The design features the kangaroo leaping across the design field from right to left with sunburst rays around the outer rim of the design field. The 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo now has a new security feature from the Perth Mint. This authentication feature is micro-engraved into the phrase Australian Kangaroo at the top of the reverse field and is only visible under magnification.

The obverse of 2020 1 oz Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coins features the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is captured here in right-profile relief in a design from Jody Clark that began to feature on Australian coins in 2018. This bust of the Queen depicts her wearing the Royal Diadem crown and is the first Australian design since 1966 to include her shoulders and neckline.
