The 2006 issue of American Silver Eagle coins were bolstered by the 20th-anniversary date mark associated with the coins, the rising price of silver, and cooling confidence in the American and global economies. The Silver Eagles experienced a temporary one-year bump in demand of nearly 2 million more coins. Mintage rose from 8.882 million in 2005 to 10.676 million in 2006, a figure at the time that was second only the 1987 release.
All 2006 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in this listing comes to you with a near-perfect grade from the PCGS. Coins with a Mint State 69 certification showcase full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
On the obverse of 2006 American Silver Eagle Coins is the image of Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916, this vision of Liberty depicts her figure in left-profile relief as she walks from right to left across the coins surface chasing the bright sunshine of a new day on the horizon. She wears the American flag around her shoulders and bears the oak and laurel branches in her left hand.
The reverse side of 2006 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design was modernized in 1986 by John Mercanti. It includes the American bald eagle, the national symbol, behind the US national shield. There are arrows and olive branches in its talons, with a triangular cluster of 13 stars above its head.
