EXTREMELY RARE B&W PHOTO OF ELVIS PRESLEY PROMOTING U.S. ARMY - $1.5K  APPRAISAL VALUE!  


ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This never-before seen photograph shows the "King of Rock n' Roll" at an early press conference, likely in 1958. He is most likely promoting the U.S. Army's Missilemen, or the Army National Guard in Air Defense, which ran from the late 1950's to 1967, which was crucial during the height of the Cold War. Using Elvis as a front for the U.S. Army proved to be clever for the United States Government at this time.

Elvis Presley is famously known for being the King of Rock n' Roll and an American heartthrob. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1958 as a GI and finished his Army career as a Sergeant in 1960. He insisted on having no special treatment during this time, providing a golden opportunity for the United States to promote the army as a decent and heroic thing to do.
