ITEM DESCRIPTION:
An original oil on panel painting by American artist, Cliff Freeland. This interesting painting dates around 1950; in bold colors and in abstract expressionist style Freeland renders a beautiful composition in a rural landscape, with a couple of figures walking through a path filled with autumn trees towards a wooden cottage. This item is in excellent condition, it is signed ‘Freeland’ in red oil paint on the bottom left corner and professionally framed in a rustic wooden frame with a golden margin.
Cliff Freeland (1915-1987) was a New Jersey born American artist. Cliff Freeland worked for and retired from the Louis Marx Company, where he was the Art Director and as such he traveled over the world. He created the original Disneykins, studied magic under Blackstone, taught President Dwight D. Eisenhower how to paint. Freeland was a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York. When he retired, he became a prolific painter of many styles.
