Arnold Wiltz, Signed Limited Edition 1927 Woodcut Print -$5K Appraisal Value!
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is an original limited edition woodcut print by famous German artist, Arnold Wiltz. With strong lines and rich detail, the artist rendered a rural scene in the mountains; in the center a small and rustic wooden cabin surrounded by all kinds of vegetation. This beautiful print is in excellent condition: it is numbered 11/25 and signed ‘Arnold Wiltz, Nov. 1927’ in pencil on the other bottom margin of the printed area; and is framed with an off-white mat and a golden laminated wooden frame.
Arnold Wiltz (1889 - 1937) was an American painter. Born in Berlin, Germany, he was a modernist painter whose stylized landscape paintings created a dream-like quality that seemed to combine both Precisionism and Surrealism. He often painted industrial scenes and was a member of the Woodstock, New York art colony from 1923 until his premature death in 1937. His work entitled Ashokan Dam was exhibited at the Carnegie International in 1933 and is now part of the Smithsonian American Art Museum collection. His work was part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1932 Summer Olympics.
