Adolph A. Weinman designed the images featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollars for the United States Mint. The image replaced the Barber Coinage design for the Half Dollar that had been in use since 1892 and featured a right-profile bust of Liberty. This full-figure design of Liberty was the second in the early 20^th century behind Saint-Gaudens image of Liberty that was also a full-figure depiction rather than a portrait bust.
