IRA GERSHWIN HAND WRITTEN LETTER - $10,000 APPRAISAL VALUE!
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is a letter from Ira Gershwin to his friend/colleague Irving Drutman. In his letter Gershwin responds to an earlier letter from Drutman explaining his recent whereabouts and current projects such as his book and work with The Bell Telephone Hour. The letter is in excellent condition and all of the writing is completely legible.
Ira Gershwin was an American lyricist who collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most memorable songs in the English language of the 20th century. He was a recipient of the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for “Of Thee I Sing” and three of his songs were nominated for an Academy Award.
The letter reads as follows:

Dear Irving [Irving Drutman],
Answering the ? in your P.P.S:
No, I wasn't in palm springs. Ive been to busy with so much trivia the past week that I just didn't get around to thanking Sam B. for his efforts to get the Times to review the book. (excuse too much of “to” – haven’t time to rewrite.) But whether Mr. Brown gets around to it or not I'm grateful to Sam and shall let him know my sentiments directly. I'm through with you. (through with this letter, that is, not you.) As for the Telephone Hour, producer Barry Wood did try to get a plug in for the book, but Bell [The Bell Telephone Hour] wouldn't ring any.
Sonst [German: otherwise], were fine – and Lee [Lee Gershwin] and I hope you are too, and we send you love and premature holiday greetings, mature ones later.
