The Perth Mint introduced its first platinum coins in 1987, but never issued platinum on a regular, annual basis. The introduction of platinum apr57 coins by the Perth Mint increased in recent years with the release of the Australian Platinum Kangaroo in 2018, followed quickly by the Australian Platinum Lunar Series III coins in 2020.

All of these 2021 1 oz Australian Platinum Lunar Ox Coins are available to you for purchase in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually packaged inside of acrylic capsules and come with the lowest mintage cap among the apr57 coins in the Lunar Series III collection. Only 5,000 of these platinum coins are available and the previous release of the Year of the Mouse sold out.

On the obverse side of 2021 1 oz Australian Platinum Lunar Ox Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown. The Queens portrait includes her neckline and shoulders in a monarch bust for the first time on Australian coins since 1966.

The reverse face of the 2021 1 oz Australian Platinum Lunar Ox Coins includes a depiction of a single adult ox. While the silver coins feature an adult ox and a young calf, the platinum coin shares the gold design from the Lunar Series III collection. This design shows a strong bull ox standing with one front leg slightly raised as it is surrounded by bamboo stalks.

The ox is the second in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. These powerful agricultural animals are associated with hard work and diligence, with those born under its sign believed to kind, intelligent, and honest.
