ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This is a vintage sepia toned silver gelatin print of of American film, stage, and television actress Veronica Lake. This classic photograph portrays the actress in a relaxed and playful posture; She is wearing her long and blonde hair daown styled with natural curls and a pair of small earrings that frame her face elegantly. The portrait is signed and dedicated to radio personality George Sanders reading: “My sincere good wishes to George Sanders, Veronica Lake” on the center bottom area in green ink. The photograph is professionally framed with a silver wooden frame and matted with a textured beige fabric, it also is framed with a black colored metal memorabilia plaque.


Veronica Lake was one of the major Hollywood stars of the 1940’s. Lake was best known for her femme fatale roles in film noirs with Alan Ladd during the 1940s and her peek-a-boo hairstyle. Born in Brooklyn, New York. She came to fame in 1941 in “I Wanted Wings”. She starred in several films with Alan Ladd including “This Gun For Hire”, ”The Glass Key” and “The Blue Dahlia”. Her other films include “So Proudly We Hail” and “Sullivan’s Travel’s”. Her film career had waned significantly by the end of the 1940’s due in part to her alcoholism. She made only one film in the 1950s, but made several guest appearances on television. She died in 1973 aged only 50 in Vermont.
