This is an original vintage window card poster for the 1979 award winning musical EVITA at the Broadway Theatre in New York City. This window card measures 22” x 14” and is printed on coated cardboard. The original Broadway production of this musical won numerous awards including the Best Musical Tony in 1980 and ran for 1,567 performances from September 1979 to June 1983.
Evita is a musical, including score and music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics and book written by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine President Juan Perón. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, work of charity, and factual death. The musical began as a rock opera concept album . Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. Cast members include Patti Lupone, Mandy Patinkin and Bob Gunton
