ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is a rare, limited edition lithography of the original art for the 1989 Soviet stamp by artist Ivan Nikolaevich. With vivid warm tones, Nikolaevich depicts a couple of Mandarin ducks swimming on a lake. This piece is numbered No. 2555 of the first and only edition of 5000 of an exclusive work by Kozlov. The entire edition of which was printed by lithography process by Unicover Corporation on June 16, 1989, after which the printing plates were destroyed. This piece includes an original stamp, a golden replica and an official medalist first day cover; it is in excellent condition numbered and signed in pencil on the bottom edge of the print, and professionally framed with 3 brown and white mats in a wooden frame.
Ivan Kozlov was born in Ustyuzhna, Russia. From 1959 to 1963 he received formal training in the arts in Moscow and began working with the USSR’s Stamp Issuance and Distribution Directorate designing stamps and envelopes. He stablished a strong reputation with his works as well as with his oil paintings.
