This is the rarer, lengthened version of the George Washington commemorative ribbons from the Centennial of American Independence, featuring a gray and black portrait of Washington at top, surrounded by blue, pink, and gold framing, with the names of the 13 colonies, and a quote: "These United Colonies Are And Ought To Be Free And Independent States." In the middle is an ornate banner inscribed: "In commemoration of the Centennial of American Independence." At the top of the ribbon is an eagle and banner. The bottom has a shield, "E Pluribus Unum," and laurel and oak branches. Made by B.B. Tilt and Sons, New York, 1876.
