1781 FRENCH ESPIONAGE LETTER - $3K APPRAISAL VALUE WITH CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY!

Transcription: “S. Larcher was sent back, Sir, to Europe by the administrators of L’Isle de France, as a suspicious man for connections with the English, as he stayed in India and which he seems to invoke moreover your vote, please write me what you think. If you believe his conduct merits suspicion on his account. I have the honor to be with sincere attachment, Sir, your very humble and very obedient servant.”
L’Isle de France is another term for the Parisian region. We believe this is a letter to the King of France, Louis XVI, concerning Larcher as a British spy in their colonies in India. What is interesting as the letter is concerned as what to do with Larcher, who seems to be in favor of the King. Written in beautiful French script. The size is approximately 8" (wide) x 14 (high). The condition of the 240 year old document is extremely fine with a few stains and a small hole several inches below the written text.
