ITEM DESCRIPTION:
An original silver gelatin print signed by former American professional baseball outfielder and catcher, Johnny Blanchard. This print dates around the late 1950s and depicts a scene during a New York Yankees game, with the score board on the background. The print is in excellent condition, signed ‘Johnny Blanchard’ with a blue ink felt tip pen on the center bottom, and is beautifully framed with a dark gray mat in a black aluminum frame.
John Edwin Blanchard (1933-2009) was an American professional baseball outfielder and catcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, and Milwaukee Braves. Sportswriter Bill Madden called Blanchard "probably the most famous third-string catcher in baseball history." Blanchard remained with the Yankees through 1965, mainly serving as a backup catcher, and played 93 games during the team's World Series-winning 1961 season, hitting 21 home runs.
