American Silver Eagle coins were first introduced in 1986 following passage of the Liberty Coin Act of 1985 by Congress. The coins were originally available in apr57 and proof versions, with only a 1 oz weight struck each year. American Silver Eagle coins enjoy status as the official silver apr57 coins of the United States.

Each coin in this product listing has a perfect grade of PF70 from the NGC. Perfect coins have their full, original luster for the mint and date, and bear no contact marks, blemishes, or other flaws. The ultra-cameo, UCAM, designation identifies coins with a strong, frosted finish on the design set and a deeply mirrored, clear background. The stark contrast creates a visual state in which the design appears to float above the background field.

On the reverse side of the coin is the image of Walking Liberty, designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and originally featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The obverse side bears John Mercantis heraldic eagle, designed in 1986 for use on this coin series.
